Problem

When you attempt to perform a manual or scheduled back of TaxWorks 2012 there are two possibilities of what will happen:

  1. Nothing will happen when you press [Backup]
  2. The software will report that is is backing up, but when it reports that is has completed there are no backup files present


Solution
RedGear plans to have the backup/restore functions working shortly, however this has been delayed due to some other issues at this time.  To ensure that your TaxWorks 2012 data is backed up we have put together a quick video showing you how to backup TaxWorks manually using a free program called "Simple SQL Backup".  There are many other options available, but this article is designed so that the most-non technical user can accomplish this task.  The Simple SQL Backup software can be downloaded from here. 


Please note that if you have a network setup of TaxWorks 2012 this would be performed on the server.
